An upper body lift includes an upper arm lift, breast lift, or back lift (surgery to remove the rolls of fat along the back). It creates a tighter look and a smoother body contour and enhances the profile. It can dramatically tighten the loose skin of the upper body and make a massive difference in how your clothes fit you. The procedure gives the entire upper body a rejuvenated appearance.

You may be a good candidate for an upper body lift if you have any of the following:
Your plastic surgeon will give you a set of guidelines about preparing for surgery, including:
The upper body lift procedure takes a few hours to complete, and the surgeon performs it under general anesthesia. It requires extensive incisions, and the length and pattern of the incision depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed. It may also require liposuction to improve the contour. After that, sutures, skin adhesives, tapes, or clips are used to close the incisions. Following your surgery, you may be required to stay in the hospital for one to two days.
You will be provided with a supporting garment to wear for a few weeks, which will help decrease the bruising and swelling. Your doctor will review you post-operatively and prescribe analgesia and antibiotics to continue at home.
After an upper-body lift, you may need to take two to three weeks off work to heal. Rest well and avoid strenuous activities during this period. Take your prescription meds as directed to allow yourself to relax and heal. To control the swelling and help your skin adhere to the new shapes, you’ll also need to wear a compression garment. As the swelling goes down and your skin settles, it may take many weeks to months before you see your ultimate results.
