Butt Implants

Butt implants, also called buttock or gluteal augmentation, is a permanent cosmetic procedure that adds volume to the flat, square-shaped buttocks. Butt implants give buttocks a rounder and more attractive look.

A surgeon inserts silicone implants into the gluteal (butt) muscle or below it. The location, however, varies according to the approach. The surgery takes several hours and has a long recovery. The butt implant procedures include:

  • Fat transfer
  • Sculptra butt lift
  • Hydrogel and silicone buttock injections
  • Silicone implants
  • Liposuction

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Butt Implant?

But implants are gaining massive popularity lately, but this doesn’t mean they’re suitable for everyone. You may be a good candidate for the procedure if you:

  • Recently lost weight & lost the natural shape of your butt
  • Feel that your natural butts are too flat or squarish
  • Think that your buttocks need more curves to enhance the body shape
  • Want to fight natural aging signs such as sagginess or elasticity

You can consult a cosmetic surgeon or a doctor to check if this procedure is good for you.

Preparation

Your doctor will provide you with detailed instructions on how to be ready for the procedure, including the following:

  • Avoid smoking for at least six weeks before surgery
  • Avoid aspirin and other drugs that could cause bleeding
  • Refrain from using herbal supplements before surgery
  • Consult your doctor to get a list of medicines that you must avoid

Surgery Details

Your surgeon will make the necessary cut to insert the implants after administering anesthesia so you won’t feel a thing. They can opt to create it in the top, bottom, or space between the cheeks of your upper butts.

The doctor inserts the implants into or beneath the muscles on each side of the buttocks. Each physician has a preferred technique for insertion and placement.

Your surgeon will seal the incisions with sutures or surgical tape after they are satisfied with the appearance of the butt implants. Even though there will undoubtedly be some swelling in the area, the outcomes are immediate. The incisions used to place the butt implants fade with time.

After Surgery

Your plastic surgeon will provide specific instructions for incision care and recovery. You might have to:

  • Avoid applying pressure directly on your butt
  • 48 hours without a shower
  • Get an antibiotic
  • Take Stool softener
  • Use surgical drains
  • Put on compression clothing

Home Recovery

It takes time to recover after butt implant surgery. Following are some tips that will help you recover sooner:

  • Refrain from sitting/sleeping on your back
  • Support your hamstrings with a pillow for at least eight weeks
  • Get adequate rest
  • Restrict prolonged sitting periods
  • Follow your post-operative care instructions
  • Avoid exercise and other strenuous activities
  • Be patient with your recovery

Following butt implant surgery, you’ll have some scars, depending on the position of the incisions. Consult your surgeon if you notice any side effects such as allergic reaction, infection, excessive bleeding or swelling, fever, or pain that does not fade.
