Arm Lift

An arm lift is a cosmetic surgery, often called a Brachioplasty. It cures drooping underarms by eliminating superfluous fat, tightening and smoothing tissue, and lowering extra skin. Your upper arms may appear more defined and toned as a result. Sagging skin is a condition that is influenced by both heredity and aging. If you lose a lot of weight, you could also have excess skin.

Who Is The Best Candidate?

You may be a good candidate for an arm lift if you:

  • Are healthy
  • Are non-smoker
  • Have loose skin on the inside and back of the arms

Preparation

You will have to take measures to ensure that your arm lift is as secure and efficient as possible in the weeks and months prior to surgery. Quitting smoking between one and two months before surgery can significantly lower your chance of problems.

You will receive a preoperative evaluation from your doctor a few weeks prior to your arm lift.

Your preoperative evaluation may include:

  • Lab work
  • An electrocardiogram
  • Prescribed preoperative medication
  • Dose adjustments for current medications and supplements

During your initial consultation, the doctors should evaluate you to determine if you are an ideal candidate for a BBL. After evaluation, they will educate you on the BBL procedure that best suits your body structure and composition. At this point, you should engage in an active conversation with your doctor, informing them of your ideal or desired results. You should be given a pre-op appointment, during which your surgeon will discuss with you the dos and don’ts of pre-surgery. You should also receive a list of medications you will need during your surgery. It is essential that you listen and adhere to all the instructions given by your surgeon to ensure that you have a smooth and successful surgery and recovery process. At least one month leading to your BBL surgery make sure to

Surgery Details

Your surgeon will begin the procedure by designating the areas on your arm where they will create incisions. Although there are various ways to conduct an arm lift, the inside or rear of your arms is where incisions are most frequently made. Alternatives include an incision in the armpit or one that goes from the top of the elbow to the armpit.

During the procedure, you will either get local anesthetic or general anesthesia. Your doctor tightens or reshapes the tissue in your upper arm using the markings they created on your arm. Your skin is pulled back over the tissue, and the surgical area is stitched.

After Surgery

You will be required to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling as you heal after surgery. To drain any fluid or blood that accumulates during surgery, your doctor may also place a temporary drainage tube in your arm.

Home Recovery

You will receive postoperative care instructions from your doctor to follow at home. These will include information on how to take care of your wounds, when to take your medications, what to look out for in the way of warning signals, and when to schedule follow-up appointments.

While you are healing after an arm lift, it’s crucial to refrain from smoking. Within two weeks, you may be ready to resume certain activities and go back to work or school. You should also be able to resume your usual level of exercise in six weeks.
